A controversial 24-year-old who Donald Trump appointed to a top position in the White House’s drug policy office will step down at the end of the month, The White House confirmed on Wednesday night, according to The Washington Post.
When Trump was on the campaign trail, he vowed to win the fight against the epidemic of opioid drug use in the U.S. Subsequently, he appointed a kid to serve as White House liaison to the Office of Drug Control Policy, who, it was found, had been previously let go from a job at a law firm because he repeatedly missed work. Taylor Weyeneth was also found to have lied on his résumé about how long he was employed at the law firm.
Before Weyeneth was appointed deputy chief of staff at the Office of National Drug Control Policy, he was “discharged” in August 2015 because he “just didn’t show” up for work.
Weyeneth’s only professional experience after college and before becoming a political appointee was working on the Trump presidential campaign, according to the Post. And that almost makes sense because Donald Trump had zero political experience before conservatives elevated him to the highest office in the land.
After a series of higher-level departures, Trump appointed him to a senior post in the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy.
“Weyeneth has decided to depart … at the end of the month,” the White House said in a statement obtained by the Post. He was previously reassigned to “administrative work” after questions arose about his lack of experience for the job.
Trump has also repeatedly failed to show up for work so we’re seeing a pattern here. We have an amateur in the Oval Office who is appointing amateurs to top-level positions. Weyeneth’s age should have been a dead giveaway as to his lack of experience for the job.
