America is still begging to have a much-needed discussion about gun control, and Charleston church shooter Dylann Roof is one of the many reasons why. No one can forget what Roof did when the white supremacist fatally shot nine black parishioners and a pastor in Charleston, South Carolina — and it seems that he had a bit of an influence on his sister as well.
Morgan Roof, 18, was arrested for bringing a knife to school yesterday when students were participating in the national school walkout in protest of gun violence. She made an extremely disturbing post on social media trashing the walkout and was arrested by police at South Carolina’s A.C. Flora High School after her post gained widespread attention.
In her post, Morgan complained about the walkout and “black people,” hoping that protesters “get shot.” She wrote:
Your [sic] walking out for the allowed time of 17min, they are letting you do this, nothing is gonna change what tf you think it’s gonna do? I hope it’s a trap and y’all get shot we know it’s fixing to be nothing but black people walkin out anyway,” she wrote. “No offense ofc buuut.”

Morgan clearly shares the very disturbing racist sentiments as her brother, who is now on death row for his hate crime. Morgan was arrested but released, and police also found pepper spray and marijuana on her. She has been ordered to stay away from her school.
After word got out about Morgan’s social media post and her presence in the school, many parents and students are uneasy. One mother of a student wrote on Facebook after Morgan’s post went viral:
Most of you probably don’t know….I certainly didn’t….that Dylan Roof’s sister goes to AC Flora where my kids are in school. Today, during what should have been a peaceful remembrance of lives lost,…”
Another parent wrote:
My son sent me a text and I stopped everything, called him and went to sign him out!”
Until the president and Congress stand up to the NRA and do something about America’s relaxed gun laws, the safety of our children (and other innocent lives) will be at the mercy of people like Dylann and Morgan Roof. The only silver lining in this disgusting situation is that Morgan did not have a gun — but it’s terrifying how easily she could have.
