Donald Trump’s education secretary, mental midget Betsy DeVos, has been promoting “school choice” and, specifically, charter schools as a viable alternative to public education in an effort to further hurt our nation’s children’s ability to learn.
Not only are charter schools ineffective when compared to public ones — DeVos’ own experiment in Michigan is collapsing as the state ranks near the bottom of the barrel in numerous categories — but we can’t exactly trust private entities to keep our kids safe.
A teacher at Somerset Academy, a charter school in Boca Raton, treated his classroom like a buffet. A fellow teacher became suspicious after learning that 28-year-old Brian Kornbluth had been specifically requesting pupils — apparently the ones he found attractive — to be in his class.
As it turns out, that teacher was right to be concerned. Kornbluth was later captured on camera luring a 10-year-old boy into his classroom with gummy bears when he traded them candy for kisses.
The boy can be seen wrapping his arms around the teacher as Kornbluth kissed him on the lips. According to the boy’s sister, who was in Kornbluth’s class the prior year, this is a normal thing.
According to the sister, he lures children to his room with gummy bears. She says he also kissed her in exchange for candy when she was one of his students.
Kornbluth pleaded guilty to kissing the boy he was seen kissing on the video, but denies kissing the girl.
He was sentenced to one year of probation for a single charge of battery with early termination after nine months. He plans to continue his teaching career — an option he legally has thanks to his slap-on-the-wrist “punishment.”
